Multi award winning artist John Kelly who died 10 years ago in being remembered in a highly nostalgic show for the hundreds of artists who would have been inspired by his talent and teachings. Professor of Fine Art at the National College of Art and Design, John Kelly was also the Director of the Graphic Studio in Dublin for more than a decade. Through his constant research and teaching he is probably singly responsible for the advancement of Irish printmaking. He was a founding member of the Blackchurch Studio in Dublin.

In 1960 John was a founding member of the ‘Independent Artists’ and from this group emerged some of the most significant artists of the late 20th century in Ireland. They included Barrie Cooke, Camille Souter, Edward Delaney, Patrick Pye, Michael Kane, James McKenna, Brian Bourke, Charlie Brady, Gerda Frömel, Gerard Dillon and John Kelly. John was something of a renaissance man. Although primarily a painter and print maker, he also wrote plays and poetry and had several works staged at the Gate Theater Dublin.
The show contains many works that have never been see and have been released by his family for the public to enjoy.
